VILLAGE OF HOPE
There are thousands of orphaned, vulnerable, and homeless children in Western Zambia. This is the result of the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS. The plight of the orphans is furthermore exaggerated by the high incidence of child abuse and desperate poverty. At Village of Hope – Mongu, our mission is to bring lasting hope to children at risk so they can embrace adulthood as independent and contributing members of society.
A group of Zambian ladies are determined to make a difference to improve the lives of the orphans and malnourished children. They meet regularly to craft beautiful handmade items that are sold through Hope Art. They too are uplifted and encouraged as they realize the effect of their dedication. They all receive an income and then 100% of Hope Art’s profits are invested in the Village of Hope Mongu. Click here to read more.
When we visit our village churches all over Western Zambia we teach them the Biblical mandate to care for orphans. As a result, many children are now being cared for by an extended family through the assistance of the church. As a project we draw alongside these communities to help them in their efforts to care for these children. Unfortunately the orphan problem is too big and our village churches do not have the capacity to care for the growing number of orphans. It is for this reason that we have partnered with Villages of Hope – Africa. This amazing partnership was established at the end of 2009. Villages of Hope – Africa is a Canadian charitable organization registered with the CRA (Registration #84950 3073 RR0001).
